HERLIFE Magazine – January

Last month I had the pleasure of photographing a few local business for a new magazine, HERLIFE, started by the amazing Lindsey Lee. As most of you know I usually photograph kids and families so this was a wonderful new experience for me. Through doing these spotlight pieces I actually had the opportunity to discover places I didn’t know existed like Touch Boutique in Eden Prairie, Sundet Dental in Edina and Enchanted Getaways in Albertville. If you get a moment, click on the magazine cover below to check out their January issue – there’s a lot of great information about local businesses and just a few of my own photos too!:)One of my favorite little guys to photograph was also chosen for this issue’s ad – he’s on page 2!

Changes coming in 2012…

Imagine singing “Chhhhh chhh chhh changes” in your head while reading this post, because that’s exactly how I started it. As of 2012 I will be making some changes to Ashley J Tyler Photography, have to keep up with the changing economy and because I value the opinions of clients/friends I wanted to ask YOU first. I did a poll of this earlier last year but wanted to bring it around again to see if there were any changing opinions.  Believe me, I am the first to know how much the economy has affected everyone which is why I want to know what everyone thinks… Please choose one and if you have some other comment or suggestions, leave it in the comment section. Thanks friends!!!:)

More from these boys and their parents tomorrow!!!!:)

Friday Inspiration

In one of my 5 Faves I mentioned the book “Water for Elephants” and how incredible it was, as in I lost myself in the book for a few days and completely fell in love with it. When the trailer was released for the movie, I watched it repeatedly because I was THAT excited for it to be released. Last weekend went by and I didn’t get a chance to get to the movies to see it, but Monday I met my lovely friend and bride-to-be Tina for an afternoon movie… Water for Elephants. As I watched the movie I had that feeling of complete love and admiration for the it, more than I thought I could. I honestly felt like I did when I saw Titanic 8 times (yes, 8 times in the theater) when I was 13… I could go see this movie over and over without getting sick of it. The other day Green Wedding Shoes posted an session that was inspired by the movie, oh how I swoon over this. The fashion, the style… ahh I love it. I thought it would be the perfect thing to share on this finally sunny Friday afternoon. Make sure and head over to the full post on Green Wedding Shoes to see all the photos, these are just a couple of my favorites by the talented Marilyn Nakazato Photography.

You have to check out this video by Red Rustic Studio, it is incredble… just incredible. I’m beyond inspired!:)

A little help…

I try to attend a workshop at least once a year to better understand photography and learn, because there is ALWAYS more to learn in this industry. Last week was spent with 10 other amazing women and our mentors learning more than I can possibly put in to words. I am beyond grateful to everything they taught us and can’t even begin to express how much they have influenced me over the years, so being able to  learn from them directly was an incredible experience. I won’t go in to detail because it would be like writing a novel, so I’ll spare you those stories:)Overall it really helped to reaffirm why I love being a photographer and how important it is to capture those moments; you can’t get them back no matter how hard you try… so please don’t wait to get those family pictures taken until you [insert excuse that we all use]. To your children and grand children, they think you are beautiful and perfect just the way you are, so why wait. I’m jumping off my soap box for now, there may be a post in the future about it… BUT the real reason for this post is as my friends/clients I’d love for your honest opinion about a session fee. Please answer the poll below, I may be changing my pricing structure to better accommodate YOU… so any opinion you have is helpful! I want to make it as easy and simple for YOU:)If you have additional comments, leave them below or feel free to send me an e-mail!
