Hauer Family – Christmas Tree Shopping

Bundle up with your jackets, hats and mittens – it’s that time of year to go Christmas Tree shopping! This was all Sarah’s idea and I was SO excited when she e-mailed me about it, like giddy excited! Not only do I ADORE this family but I’ve been dying to do a session like this. I’ve been photographing Will for almost 4 years now and just like his cousin Finn, he finally likes me – so much so, he was all about the camera this time! I guess it just takes time… Ben is now 1 1/2 and cute as ever, I have a feeling as he gets older these two are going to be blast together!

We met up in Linden Hills area across from Turtle Bread to check out the trees and then warmed up with a cookie and coffee. It was a great end to a holiday weekend – thanks Sarah for asking me to capture this for you guys!:)

Mom and Will – you can never have too many photos of mom and her boy!

Will – the tree picker!

A total ham and he still has those BIG blue eyes!

Ben had me cracking up – he wanted to sit at his own table, as I walked over to take a photo, this was the look I got. “EXCUSE ME?”

It’s true – brothers can share!:)

A new found best friend – Santa Clause. He was MESMERIZED…

it’s Santa….:)

The men at this tree lot were awesome with Will and Ben – they played this donut game. Will had to reach in and try and grab a donut before the lid closed! Nothing but laughter from this little boy.

The boys and their perfect Christmas Tree!

Lyon Family – Minneapolis Family Photography

Meet the adorable Lyon family… how can you not smile?!!? Seriously:)They were kind enough to make the trip up to Minnesota Harvest last weekend for our session, it was the PERFECT weather… little cloudy, little warm and a lot of fall colors! Thanks so much for making the drive, it was so nice to meet you guys and I hope to see you all again soon!!!!!

Is she not one of the most beautiful ALMOST 2 year olds?!?!:)I think so!

In front of the camera

Before the launch of the new blog, I asked my friend Emily to take some new pictures of me… I won’t lie, I was absolutely dreading it. I tore my closet apart trying to find something to wear, thinking… ugh I have nothing, my hair is a mess and goodness how do people do this? As soon as I got to Emily’s and we got to work wandering around her neighborhood the nerves went away (a little). It was still VERY different to be in front of the camera, I’m definitely not the most comfortable there but it was a great experience. It really reminded me how important it is to be in the shoes of my clients and remember what it’s like to be the one in front of the camera. Thank you sooo much Em for everything!!!!

Emily also had some new photos taken of her for her new blog which you should definitely check out, it’s AMAZING but she also wrote a great post about the importance of having your picture taken. I couldn’t agree more with what she said and I love the old pictures she put up of her family. My mom and I have been scanning all our old photos onto the computer just in case something ever happened to the originals we would have them backed up. It reminded me how much I appreciate those pictures, as much as I HATED having them done when I was little, but I look back and laugh at my horrible hair style, or those overalls that I wore ALL the time (what was I thinking?). But I also wish there were more, I was the girl especially in those “teen years” where I hid from the camera, most of the pictures are of me covering my face or turning my back. I can’t go back and re-do those moments so thankfully there are still those family pictures we have where I’m not being a pain in the butt:)

PS did you know I have two different colored eyes? I was amazed at how noticeable it was in these pictures, most of the time you can’t tell.
